Description
Twang-Bucker for Bass VI / Baritone guitar
Our Twang-Bucker has found a place in unexpected quarters ,,,, a Bass VI / Baritone Strat no less. Listen to the YouTube and you will immediately hear something remarkable. The guitar in the YouTube was a special build Warmoth and has a Narrow spaced bridge.
Technical Stuff
Introduced Aug-13.
Direct replacement for conventional humbuckers such as Gibson, Duncan, etc. Some guitars (a few Ibanez, some Fender Strat, and one or two others) have pickups with excessively rounded corners. If a pickguard is fitted (for example, Fender Strat Deluxe), a small modification to the pickguard opening to accommodate a Kinman humbucker is well worth the effort since Kinman’s sound is so much better. The cavity in the body is suitable as it is.
Reasons it sounds so good: There are other similar pickups on the market with Alnico rod magnets, but these simplistic pickups lack oomph. The Twang-Bucker is far more complex and incorporates our exclusive Patented technology which gives it a lot of ooomph, outstanding clarity and explosive dynamics.
The Twang-Bucker has low-string-pull proprietary Alnico-5 magnets and Kinman’s recently Patented technology, which increases Inductance without adding more turns of wire to the coils. That’s the reason our Twang-Bucker has a lot of kick, snap, and power and very strong and sharp twang, yet is clear and transparent and sweeter than any Strat pickup.
Hook-up cable
- Two conductor-shielded hook-up cables. 380mm / 15 ” long.
- Upon request: 3 conductors with an outer shield for phase reversal.
Connection means available
- Bare wires for soldering.
- Kinman connectors for plugging into any Kinman Goodbye-Soldering Harness.- including the two pickup KHP-90 for Gibsons.
- Gibson 2 wire & 5 wire Quick Connect circuit board connectors are shown below.
Output Polarity:
- in-phase with Gibson and Copy humbuckers
- in-phase with all other Kinman pickups
- opposite phase to Fender Strat
- Can be phase reversed by specifying 3 Conductor Hook-Up cables when ordering
Pot & Capacitor values
- Best with 500k Ohm for Volume & Tone. Many Gibsons have 300k, which makes a darker, less dynamic sound.
- The tone pot is usually the same value as the volume, but for a little more top end brightness can be 1meg or a No-Load.
- Normal tone cap value of 0.022µF, 63 ~ 100 volt Polyester. Smaller values lessen the severity of the Treble cut; higher values increase it.
Magnet spread
- 47.5mm for the neck position when the bridge saddle spread measures 52mm
- 50mm only, so suitable for all other applications except the bridge position of a Strat with vintage 6-point bridge, Telecaster bridge, and bridge position in other guitars with a bridge saddle spread greater than 54mm.
- For bridge position in Strats with a vintage 6-point bridge, sorry, there is no companion bridge pickup available at this time except a 580 (P-90 Hx).
Magnet Staggers
- Fixed magnet stagger suiting 7 ~ 14 ” uniform radius fretboards (Gibson, most Fender, etc)
- Fixed magnet stagger suiting 14 ‘ ~ 20 ” Including Warmoth 10~16 ” Compound Radius & 2010 onwards Fender Deluxe 9 ~ 14 “.
- Option to change the magnet stagger in our ‘After-Payment Supplementary Questions ‘ email we send you.
Covers and colors
- Our exclusive ‘240’ and generic open top & closed top Hand buffed Nickel-Silver or Durable Black covers with matching poles & mounting screws.
- Various colored top plates are available (Black, Cream, White) Or visit the What’s New section >Open-top humbuckers with new decorative top plates.
