The Bridge Blaster balances with a neck Humbucker.

One customer from Texas recently wrote, “These are off the chart excellent!! I’ve tried so many conventional and noiseless….I’m fortunate I did not give up the search for the best. My search is over with Kinman. In my humble personal observation, these are so good I’m retro-fitting all my guitars with Kinman. Thanks a million for THE BEST pick-ups made!!! Ciao Terry

The Bridge Blaster is one of the most awesome Tele bridge pickups ever conceived, the new Kick-in-the-Arse in the other one. The outside appearance of a Telecaster bridge pickup with Alnico rod magnets and black twine coil wrap … but with more than a casual resemblance to a P-90. Great for Telecasters with medium output neck Humbucker or P-90 because the output is balanced …. no more huge volume difference between neck and bridge pickups. The Bridge Blaster is very sensitive to height adjustment and this allows it to balance with a wide range of humbuckers by adjusting it close to the strings for high output or away from the strings for lower output, depending on the humbucker concerned.

With a whopping 7 Henry inductance and DC resistance of 12.5K ohms, the Bridge Blaster has a similar thumping attack of a P-90 and, surprisingly more than a hint of twang and Tele character. It’s so sweet it could be used in Jazz at low volume. But best of all is the HUGE output, about the same as a P-90 it will easily hold its own in competition with a P-90 or Humbucker in the neck position … now that’s powerful.

Sounds at its best in a Kinman Goodbye-Soldering Harness, click this link and check them out.

This is one sweet but brutal pickup. One of the amazing new generation hum-canceling pickups coming from Kinman,

The KING of noiseless & the Prince of Expression & Feel

Technical Stuff

In case you forget.

Patents 7,022,909 & 8,791,351

Some people will call these noiseless Telecaster pickups, but Kinman prefers to describe them correctly as Zero-Hum Telecaster pickups.  That’s because there are 2 types of noise, Hum which is canceled in the pickup, and Buzz, which can only be minimized by shielding the wiring cavities (refer to >Technical >Perfect Guitar >Shielding for newer guitars

The Bridge Blaster requires no modification to the pickup cavity in your guitar.

Mixing and matching with other Tele pickups

The usual Tele neck pickups do not have enough power to balance with the Bridge Blaster, that is, except for the Kinman Neck Blaster.

Mixing with Humbuckers

Thanks to new technology, this new Bridge Blaster model has such surprisingly high output it balances well with a PAF or Wide Range type neck humbucker.  500k is the best volume pot value for most humbuckers, and the Bridge Blaster works ok with 500k, so it’s not necessary to have different value pots.  The genuine Wide Range humbucker requires a 1Meg volume pot, so an easy solution is to wire one end of a 1Meg fixed resistor from the switch terminal that is hot for the bridge pickup and the other end of the resistor to the ground.  This will resolve the resistance of the 1Meg volume pot to 500k when the bridge is selected.

Adjustment requirements

The Bridge Blaster has our patented ‘focused magnetic circuit’ and needs to be adjusted close to the strings to get its best performance. You can adjust the pickup as close as a 1.5mm gap between the bottom of E 6th and the top of the magnet with string pressed onto the 12th fret. It really cooks, is very loud, and sounds similar to a P-90 …. that close.  The Bridge Blaster sounds best with a 250k volume pot and develops more high-end sizzle and dynamics, more like a real P-90.  It will work with a 500k volume pot, but the punch is compromised to a noticeable degree.

Connection means available

  • Prepared Bare wires for soldering.
  • Kinman connector for plugging into any Kinman Goodbye-Soldering Harness.

Hook-up cables

  • Prepared and cut generously longer than necessary for Telecasters.
  • Custom lengths by request with Order.
  • 2 conductor shielded.  The 3 mounting screws provide a ground link to the bridge/strings.
  • NOTE: the 3 mounting screws provide grounding to the bridge & strings (like old fashioned Tele bridge pickups).  This means the phase is not reversible.

Dimensions

  • Click on the dimensions page

Output Polarity

  • Phase reversible, so can adapt to any companion pickups.

Pot & Capacitor values

  • Sounds best with a 250k volume pot.  A 500k volume pot makes the sound thinner with a less chunky twang.
  • The tone pot is usually the same value as the volume, but for a little more top end brightness can be 1meg or a No-Load.
  • Stock pots can actually measure as low as 170k and 350k.  Pots in our Goodbye-Soldering Harness are guaranteed to measure no less than 250k and 500k, respectively.
  • Normal tone cap value of 0.022uF in 63 ~ 100-volt Polyester.  Smaller value reduces the severity of the Treble cut, larger values increase it.

Magnet spread

  • Standard 55mm only.  The slanted mount resolves to 53.5mm

Magnet Staggers

  • Normal improved Stagger to suit 7 ~ 14-inch uniform radius fretboards.
  • Flat Stagger for specific compound radius fretboards (Warmoth 10 ~ 16 inch and Post 2010 Fender ‘Deluxe’ Compound Radius 9 ~ 14″).
  • Option to specify the magnet stagger of sets and singles in our ‘After-Order Supplementary Questions‘ email we send you.

Mounting hardware included

  • 3 Pan head mounting screws 6-32 UNC x 21mm
  • 3 Silicon Rubber tube springs.

Covers

  • Tele bridge pickups don’t have covers, the top coil is bound with Black twine and wax potted for protection.
  • Upon request, we can fit a decorative top plate for a modest cost.  Available is Pearl White, Cream, Aged White, Green, and Blue.
  • With or without the Kinman logo.

We highly recommend consulting the Install Guide in Tech Info, even if you think you know it all.  Kinmans require specialized knowledge, and sometimes there is updated info.  There is also a handy wiring diagram available.

We also highly recommend consulting the Adjust & Set-up page in Tech Info so you get the best out of your Kinman pickups.
