Jaguar for Bass V1
Jaguar for Bass V1
The Zero-Hum Blues-Jag (Impersonator 54) is a great pickup for the Bass VI, it is dynamic and responsive and it has a slightly darker sound that agrees with bass.
Our ThickMaster (Jazzmaster) pickup is a perfect companion pickup for the bridge position of the Bass VI on the right above. It produces a very dark but responsive sound as far as single coils go. However there are other choices in the Jazzmaster section.
News flash: We now include 2 of our special made replica mounting screws.
Some people will call these noiseless Jaguar pickups but Kinman prefers to describe them correctly as Zero-Hum Jaguar pickups. That’s because there are 2 types of noise, Hum which is cancelled in the pickup and Buzz which can only be minimized by shielding the wiring cavities (refer to >Technical >Perfect Guitar >Shielding for newer guitars
** Alnico-K is a unique proprietary rod magnet developed by Kinman in 1985. It is Alnico-5 but has 40% less string pull than Alnico-5 so sustain is longer and there is much less clatter from string crash and no Strat-itis string warble.
* Fender, Strat, Jaguar and Jag are registered Trade Marks of Fender Musical Instrument Corp, Inc. Kinman is not associated with FMIC but they kindly permit us to refer to their Trade Marks to describe our products.
Technical Stuff
Kinman pickups for Jaguar are direct replacements and no modification to the guitar is required.
Number of parts in this pickup: 31
Number of parts in regular single coil: 11
Number of parts in other brand noiseless: There are no other noiseless Jaguar pickups with Alnico rod magnets. Kinman is the only one and that makes the Kinman coolest Jaguar pickup available.
Laser engraved nomenclature so you can’t forget.
Connection means available
- Bare wires for soldering.
- Kinman connectors for plugging into any Kinman Goodbye-Soldering Harness. We do not make harness for Jaguar.
Hook-up wires
- 3 single wires is standard. Allows for phase reversing and series connection. Cut generously longer than necessary for the 2 pickup positions.
- Single non-shielded wires require shielding in the cavities that carry wiring to prevent electrical buzz. See >Technical >Perfect Guitar >Shielding for newer guitars
- We now use Fenders color codes.
Output Polarity:
- in-phase with all other Kinman pickups (compatible)
- in-phase with Gibson and Copy humbuckers (compatible)
- opposite phase to Fender Strat etc (requires phase reversal of either pickup)
Pot & Capacitor values
- Recommended 250k Ohm Volume pot (measured). Thinner sound with 500k or 1Meg for volume & Tone.
- It’s easy to change the pot in the main circuit, it’s difficult to find the smaller one in the separate upper circuit for the neck pickup.
- Tone pot is usually the same value as the volume. A little more top end brightness from 500k, 1meg or a No-Load.
- Normal tone cap value of 0.022μF in 63 ~ 100 volt. Smaller values lessen the severity of Treble cut.
Magnet spreads (E-1st ~ E-6th)
- 52.5mm that suits Fender USA, Japanese .
- 51mm that may suit some Squire, SE Asian and Mexican Jags.
- Indicate the bridge saddle spread in the Ordering Process so we know which one you need.
