Blues Set

Set of 3.

Why do so many guitar players seek out the warm sound of a tube amp? The Blues set is less aggressive, warmer, rounder Aged *Strat sound with milder attack than the Trad Mk-III in clean mode and breaks into crunch more easily. Surprising Alnico detail with less brightness, medium strong output. The Blues set is also great for smooth overdrive sounds with ‘clarity and TONE’, with Zero-Hum.

Low magnetic string pull for longer sustain and less string crash and fret buzz.

Quite versatile. Best in a K5 or K7 NoSoldering Harness because some players might find the Blues set in the ‘series’ mode of the K9 will not have the highs and definition that the Traditional Mk-II and Woodstock’s have.

News flash Apr-2021: Now with our new Synergy baseplate that allows switching off Hum Cancelling as well as switching to ‘Synergy’ mode for those that think hum is part of Fender sound.

1) NEW! Hank Marvin’s absolutely authentic 60’s Shadows Magnum Opus ’59 set (Gen-3) Tap the link. Critically acclaimed by Hank himself and his inner circle and receiving rave reviews on Shadows appreciation sites.

2) Hank Marvin Modern Vintage set (on this page) composed of 3 x Impersonator MV (modern vintage) with Kinman’s patented Gen-2 technology.

Customer Stuart says …These Kinman Impersonator 54 pickups sound very similar to the Bare Knuckle 63 Veneer 64’s – but better. There’s more clarity, and there’s more top-end. Honestly, the Kinmans are making my other Strats sound dark – and they’ve got true single coil pickups in them. Noiseless pickups aren’t supposed to have better top-end than true single coil pickups but these do. (read the Report Card for more from Stuart)

The Impersonator MV is an upgraded Impersonator 54 which was Hanks previous model and it’s still a fine sounding pickup.

NEWS 18-July-2017: Hank stepped up to our non-aged-sound Impersonator MV which are great for his modern sound. This set produces a nice meaty twang and outstanding highs with an overall excellent presence factor. Hank prefers this set for his modern sound over Fender’s CS54. Listen to the YouTube and you’ll soon hear why.

Signal chain requirements: Any old cable won’t do. It is highly desirable to use a low capacitance cable to get the incredible performance of this pickup.

Balanced G string loudness, no Ice-pick, low string pull and no Strat-itis.

Alnico-K** rod magnets exert less magnetic string pull for longer sustain and less string crash and fret buzz.

Works well in any Kinman Goodbye-Soldering Harness.

Some people will call these noiseless Stratocaster pickups but Kinman prefers to describe them correctly as Zero-Hum Stratocaster pickups. That’s because there are 2 types of noise, Hum which is 100% cancelled in the pickup and Buzz which can be minimized only by shielding the wiring cavities (refer to >Technical >Perfect Guitar >Shielding for newer guitars)

Pot & Capacitor values

  • Best with 250k Ohm (measured minimum) volume pot.  Less punch and more bright with 500k.
  • Tone pot is usually the same value as the volume but for a little more top end brightness can be 500k, 1meg or a No-Load.
  • Stock pots can actually measure as low as 175k.  Pots in our Goodbye-Soldering Harness are guaranteed to measure no less that 250k.
  • Normal tone cap value of 0.022uF, 63 ~ 100 volt Polyester.  Smaller uF value lessen the severity of Treble cut, higher values increase it.  Our Goodbye-Soldering Harness have our High Definition Tone cap which players say is more usable.
  • The voltage rating of Caps is not important but 63 ~ 100 volt have thicker lead wires that result in a neater job.
